The story of the discovery of the bones of England’s last Plantagenet King under a car park in Leicester gained world-wide interest. With his background in Medieval History, journalist Dave Andrews was in a great position to cover the story for BBC Leicester. During the whole period, from the inception of the project, through to the discovery itself, the legal battles as to where the King should be reburied, and the final laying to rest in Leicester Cathedral, Dave was involved with reporting it, and interviewing all the main characters involved. Dave was also honoured to be asked to provide the radio commentary for the Re-interment Service itself.
Dave studied Medieval History at the University of York. A twist of fate took him to Leicester where he trained to be a teacher, and where he ended up as Deputy Head of a large comprehensive school. In 1995, however, the opportunity of a second career with the BBC opened up. From then, until he retired in 2022, Dave was a presenter and producer with BBC Radio Leicester. In 2015 he was installed as a Deputy to the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire.
