About

American Frank Lloyd Wright (1867 – 1959), is recognised as one of the most important architects of all time. He was a genius who believed he was destined to redesign the world. Over the course of his long career, he designed over 800 buildings, including revolutionary structures such as The Guggenheim Museum in New York. However, Wright’s architectural achievements were often overshadowed by his turbulent private life. In his 92 years, he fathered seven children, married three times, and suffered great personal tragedy.

Speaker, Fiona Rose, will provide an overview of his work, colourful personal life and most iconic buildings. She is an accredited lecturer with the Arts Society and gives talks on subjects she feels passionate about. Her aim is to include the human story behind the artistic endeavours of her subjects. For local interest, she will include reference to Frank Lloyd Wright’s friendship with Charles Ashbee, leader of the Arts and Crafts Movement in England.
