About

This is a unique opportunity to go inside Evesham’s iconic Bell Tower to visit the first floor Ringing Chamber. Considered one of England’s finest medieval belfries and described by the historian James Lees-Milne as “one of the nation’s architectural treasures”, the Tower was the last part of Evesham Abbey to be built (around 1530) and fortunately survived the dissolution of the Abbey.

Claire Penny, Ringing Master, will talk about the history of the Tower. She will also give an insight into the complexities of bell ringing and talk more specifically about the peal of 14 bells in the Tower, which are considered by many to produce one of the best rings in the country. You will also have the chance to see ringers at work.

Places are strictly limited to 20 for this event which is a repeat of the event on Sunday 21st June.

(Note: There are approximately 50 steep steps inside the Tower.)
