About

This walk is in conjunction with Evesham Walking Festival and will be led by Tony Boyse, Chairman of The John Moore Society.

John Moore – A man who noticed such things – A man who was one of England’s first conservationists and one of our best country writers. He was described in 1967 as the most talented writer about the countryside of his generation. “No writer in these days, when the English countryside is being slowly exterminated to gratify material progress, was able to preserve what life is left to it with the eloquent and accurate observation of John Moore.”

We will start this six-mile walk in Bredon, near Tewkesbury, and walk in a loop to Westmancote at the foot of Bredon Hill and then on to John Moore’s beloved Kemerton, before returning over the fields to Bredon.

We too will notice things en route and there will be readings, given by Society members, at a number of places associated directly with John Moore including the two houses that he lived in at Kemerton and The John Moore Nature Reserve.

Early booking for this walk is recommended and tickets are only available via the Evesham Walking Festival website:
