Join us for a chat with author AJ Pearce, as she talks about her books and her writing success. AJ’s favourite subjects at school were English and History, both of which are reflected in her books. Her debut novel, Dear Mrs Bird, was a Sunday Times Bestseller and Richard & Judy Book Club Pick, featuring Emmeline Lake, who dreams of becoming a fearless Lady War Correspondent. It was shortlisted for the British Book Awards Debut of the Year and the Historical Writers’ Association Debut Crown for best historical debut. Subsequent books in the Emmy Lake Chronicles are: Yours Cheerfully, Mrs Porter Calling, and Dear Miss Lake.

AJ is a popular speaker at literary festivals. When not talking about, researching, or writing books, she enjoys “being fairly rubbish at a variety of hobbies”. The latest hobby is learning to paint, which is not going well apparently!
