About

Author Ruth Hogan was brought up in a house full of books – her mother worked in a bookshop – and grew up with an unsurprising passion for reading and writing. Becoming a writer was one of a long list of possible future careers. She studied English and Drama at Goldsmith’s College and then found herself working in local government for ten years.

A car accident and a subsequent run-in with cancer convinced her finally to get her act together and pursue her dream of becoming a writer.  The result was her debut novel The Keeper of Lost Things, which went on to sell two million copies globally.  She has gone on to write five further novels, including The Phoenix Ballroom and her brand new novel, The Light A Candle Society. As a full-time author, Ruth feels lucky to be living the dream.
