Saturday 17th October saw the first ever Evesham Festival of Words Autumnfest and what a feast it was! We had a packed day of events at Ecgwins Club – Rachel Sargeant talking about her career as a writer of suspense novels; John Kinory shedding light on his life and times as a film extra; Oliver Lewis taking us on the Orwell tour, and Festival Chair, Sue Ablett, on a fascinating romp around Libraries of the World. Finally, Mark Stratford gave a riveting performance in the evening as Macready, Dickens Theatrical Friend. As if that wasn’t enough on Sunday morning we once again enjoyed access to Evesham’s iconic Bell Tower to share Secrets of the Tower. We had really good crowds at all events and some great feedback about the quality and variety of our programme and speakers, and of course about the fabulous home-made cakes that are so much a feature of our Festival events.
